As someone who loves crafting with paper, cardstock, vinyl, and faux leather, I need a good paper cutter. The one I had been using was just not cutting it. Seriously, it kept ripping my paper. So, I started using a rotary blade. Well, that was working, but the paper would sometimes slip and the fact that I could only cut aabout 5 sheets at a time made some projects take longer than I wanted. So, I went on a search for a guillotine paper cutter. Most of the ones I found were over $30 and had a maximum sheet count of 12. However, a I continued to browse, I found this ECraft Guillotine Paper Cutter for $25.99 and, as a Prime member, I was offered Same-Day delivery. It was after 1 pm, at the time, but it said it would be delivered between 5 pm and 10 pm. I was intrigued. Upon further reading, I found that, not only was it cheaper than those that only cut up to 12 sheets, it also cut up to 15 sheets. Ok, this had me really interested, now. So, like I always do, I head to the reviews section. It had 4.5 stars. Ok, that's good. After reading, some reviews stated that it didn't cut up to 15 sheets, but "more like 8," as one said. Someone complained about it not having a blade lock. Another claimed that it slid around while cutting, but they added some rubber feet and it helped. For the most part, the reviews were good, so I decided to go ahead and buy the cutter.
The cutter arrived on my doorstep at about 8 pm. I immediately came in and started recording the unboxing and did a review. You can watch that video below. The cutter is very well made. It's all metal, with the exception of the guides and handle, which are plastic. The only thing I needed to do was put the handle on the blade. It was super simple, and took less than a minute to install.
I started off cutting one sheet of standard letter size printer paper. It cut the one sheet perfectly. Then, I put the halves together and cut two sheets. Another perfect cut. I took the four sheets from that cut, put them together and, again, another perfect cut. I kept layering the paper like that until I added 15 sheets. The cutter did extremely well, up until I added the 15th sheet. However, it may have been because I was cutting small squares, because that's what I had after all those cuts. Since then I've cut 15 sheets with no issues. They are correct with the up to 15 sheets, because I added the 16th sheet and it didn't cut all the way. I think if you have thinner paper, like a tracing paper or tissue paper, you can cut the 16 sheets.
Now, let's talk about the guides. They are amazing! I'm so happy to have them as they make measuring and keeping the paper straight while cutting so much easier. Another problem I had with my slice cutter was not being able to measure more than just a few inches, if I didn't have my cutting mat with the measurements underneath it.
The cutter is also lightweight, so it can be moved around with ease. Or, if you don't need to move it, or are worried about it shifting around while cutting, it has holes for anchoring if you want anchor it to a wooden table. I don't have a table to anchor it to, so until I do, I'll just use my hand, as it's worked well, so far.
Overall, I'm happy with my cutter and can't wait to cut more stuff!! I think this cutter is perfect for crafters on a budget. If you're looking for something that's going to cut over 15 sheets, you may have to spend a good chunk of change for it, but if you're fine with 15 sheets at a time, this is the cutter for you.
